So without further ado…

We all have something we are passionate about. Call me Scrooge, but I like saving money!! It doesn’t matter if you love knitting, cats, travel or gardening. If you do, others will as well.

Write about it. Who knows, maybe it could become your job!!

You can start writing a free online blog today on sites such as WordPress, Tumbler or Blogger.

get back in touchGet Back in Touch

Ever wondered what happened to your best friend from primary school? Haven’t spoken to your great aunt Enid, since that family wedding 3 years ago?

It’s never been easier to get back in touch with people. Be it through social media sites like Facebook. Free international calls with apps like Skype. Or even the old fashioned way of picking up the phone.

Talk about old memories today, create new ones tomorrow!!

learn a new skillLearn a New Skill

Whether you have always wanted to know how make those cool origami swans, juggle or even do magic. With a world of how to videos and articles online it couldn’t be easier.

You can take this one step further. It doesn’t matter if you have always wanted to learn French or Web Design there is very likely a free online course for you. If online learning is not your cup of tea. Check out your local free newspaper, college or community centre. There are probably more free courses going on than you can imagine.

Ghandi said “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. Volunteering your skills can help you gain experience. Develop new skills and help you get ahead in your career.

Volunteers have been proven to live longer and be happier. Not only that, they feel like they have more time too!!

You can find voluntary positions online on sites like Do-it, or by visiting your local volunteer centre.

Research Your Family Tree

Ever wondered where you come from? Are you related to royalty or criminals? Maybe both!! Researching your family tree can be rewarding and heart-breaking at the same time. You just have to watch an episode of Who Do You Think You Are to see this.

Start by talking to your parents or grandparents and work back from there. You will be surprised how interested your family will be in how you are getting on. As well as how much closer you will all be after.

You can start online today with sites like Ancestry, or for free at your local library.

workout routineStart a Workout Routine

It’s not just your grandma that talks about the importance of your health. They have been talking about it for generations. Roman poet Virgil said “The greatest wealth is health” over 2000 years ago.

You don’t need an expensive gym membership or fancy equipment to look and feel better. Whether you plan to run a marathon, do100 sit ups every morning or walk instead of taking the car to the shops. Make a plan and stick to it!!

Keep a Diary

What better way to store all those amazing new memories and achievements, than to write them down.

It’s not just the workout routine that will make you feel better. Writing a diary has health benefits too. As well as reducing stress, by allowing you to clarify your thoughts and solve problems better. Research also shows that it can reduce the symptoms of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis.

Got kids? Here are some ideas for you…

build a denBuild a Den

Some of the best childhood memories are from the dens you built and the ones you dreamed of. I must have drawn hundreds of plans for that treehouse in the woods from my den in the loft.

Kids have incredible imagines. Go grab some boxes and blankets. If you have a garden take it outside. They will do the rest!!

do bakingDo Some Baking

Den building is hungry work!!

You don’t have to be Nigella, Delia or have a pantry full of exotic ingredients to get baking; Kids can have a great time making cornflake cakes and muffins. Get them involved in mealtimes too. You just have to look at Pancake Day to realise how much fun you can have in the kitchen with simple recipes and ingredients.

Go Outside

After all that food you need some exercise!! It doesn’t matter if you live in a city, the countryside or by the sea; there are endless places to play. Pack a picnic, some toys and your family for hours of fun. Football, Frisbee, Fishing, you decide. And those are just ideas beginning with “F”!!

tell storiesTell Stories

After a long day of playing, den building and baking, settle down with your family for story time. It doesn’t matter if you want to read a book or make up your own stories. It’s just as fun.

If you like scary stories get your duvets, a torch and switch out the lights for even more fun!!

Holidays are all about recovering, so that you can return to work or school fresh and rejuvenated. So finally if you’re tired treat yourself to a lie in or a nap. You will feel so much better for it.

We have given you a number of ways to have fun and improve your life this summer, but it really is just the tip of the iceberg. The only limit is your imagination!! Remember, best things in life are free!
